Multi-channel emission spectrometer DFS-71

DFS-71 SpectrometrDFS-71 is a reliable, modern instrument for metals analysis. It ensures ultimately high quality analysis of practically all known metals and alloys. Present-day design in line with proven components and careful adjustment provide excellent stability, precision, accuracy and low detection limits. That is why DFS-71 is successfully applied in metallurgy, foundry, metal processing and recycling industries.

Optical system

Optical system is Paschen-Runge with 1 m Rowland circle. In order to ensure spatial stability of the spectrum all the optical elements are installed on a cast iron platform. To eliminate any environmental temperature influence the sealed polychromator is thermostabilized at 37±0.50С.

Exit slits are cut in a 140-slits slotted mask. Careful selection of analytical spectral lines allows DFS-71 to solve any analytical task. The use of slotted mask instead of individual slits simplifies device adjustment and makes it easier to add new analytical channels and use closely-spaced spectral lines.

For short wavelength elements like S, P and C, polychromator is purged with Ar or N2 with average gas consumption 0.1 L/min. In comparison with vacuum design, purged polychromator is cheaper and more lightweight, while it is more reliable and provides similar analytical characteristics.

Sample stand construction is optimized in order to reduce argon consumption. Absence of the upper housing and convenient sample clamp mechanism make it possible to analyze samples of various shape and size. Special adapters are available for thin rods and wires analysis. Spark chamber cleaning is easy and does not require any disassembling. Closed-cycle water cooling system eliminates any sample stand heating effects.

Excitation Source

Compact computer controlled low voltage spark source. Discharge current amplitude and waveform as well as pulse duration and repetition rate are adjusted in a wide range, what makes it possible to analyze various metals and alloys.

Full computer control of the generator allows to:

  • Chose the optimum excitation parameters.
  • Switch between different discharge modes in a single analytical exposure (one can use up to 5 different modes including High Energy PreSparking).
  • Use programmable current peak at the discharge front
  • Automatically set up generator parameters for every analytical program

All these features improve accuracy and precision of the analysis and advance performance of the spectrometer.

Read-out system

DFS-71 utilizes Time Resolved Spectroscopy system, which allows direct separation of useful analytical signal from spectral background. Time integration gates are independently adjusted for every channel with 2 microseconds step. TRS allows better detection limits and reproducibility to be achieved.

Read-out system has a wide dynamic range (up to 6 orders). It allows to:

  • extend the range of measured concentrations at the same PMT voltage, i.e. within one analytical program;
  • improve sensitivity, accuracy, and reproducibility of the analysis.

WinQuant software

WinQuant is a powerful software designed for data processing and hardware control in modern atomic emission spectrometers. Wide functionality, flexibility and simplicity make WinQuant an excellent analytical tool.

WinQuant is our proprietary software, which runs on Windows 98 and more recent versions. It is continuously improved and modified, new functions are added in order to meet our customer’s requirements. WinQuant allows autonomous operation, what is very useful for data post processing.
